Restoration – Part 4: Restoration

When we discovered that we would need a fire escape at the rear of the building, it seemed sensible to restore the old kiln and in the two photographs below you can see that work in progress.

When work on the main Mill building was well under way, we were offered an extension to
the contract to include the farm buildings on the south side of the courtyard and so we began again.

Meanwhile work was continuing inside the main building. The photographs below, beginning
the fire escape stair in the arched entrance, one of eleven new door openings, the enormous
pit dug to take the milling machinery from Lindean Mill (see future blog post on ‘Machinery’):
