As with other reviews, we really liked the museum, which is on three floors with open tread staircases. The museum is not actually signposted at the road end, as such, so easily missed - see screenshot from Google Street View.Posted on Google![]()

A trully immersive journey in Ayrshire's past. The owner has put a wonderful selection of collectables together and has ensured they're presented beautifully. A lot of attention to detail and all sorts of facts here and there. One of the best museums I've been in my life, truly wholesome and the owner was present and very welcoming all the way. Even waved us goodbye at the exit 🥰 certainly an ideal place to lose oneself into if a break from reality is needed. A true escape from modern mad rush. I wish I had more time to also take a walk around the premises afterwards but I spent my whole 4 hours inside the museum this once ☺️ strongly recommended for peeps who like oddities and "creepy dolls" aesthetic 🎈Posted on Google![]()

Whilst I enjoyed touring round the museum, I do consider the cost of entry at £10 to be excessive. On the plus side the cafe is excellent. Good service and food.Posted on Google![]()

Ein sehr schöner Platz für ein Päuschen. Selbst gemachtes Gebäck und Kuchen 😋. Die Gastgeber sind sehr, sehr freundlich. Der Abstecher lohnt sich auf jeden Fall.Posted on Google![]()

WOW . This gem is the Star of Kilwinning. You can purchase a yearly ticket and just dip in and out when you call in for lunch at the Millers Kitchen. I have visited this Mill on a monthly basis for 4 years now and still find the various costume displays fascinating and the country life exhibition a true marvel and endless source of Ayrshire history.Posted on Google![]()

What a lovely surprise - both the museum and the welcoming tearoom. And a super riverside walk thrown in, too. Superb history - the mill has been in the family for generations. The thick stone walls of the tearoom have provided shelter since the 1600s. The museum is a treasure trove of all things from yesteryear. An amazing collection of Victorian, Edwardian, 20s and thereabouts gowns and wedding dresses, handstitched to perfection. Fine linen gowns and baby clothes, farm implements, and more. And a few rooms in the 3 storey building done up to show a glimpse of life in days gone by. The tearoom offers delicious cakes and light lunches. I chose the cheese, onion and tomato quiche with coleslaw and a side salad, after first eyeing the lentil soup. I later returned for a cup of green tea and a delicious slice of coffee cake. It's so refreshing to find a family-run, historical and well-loved attraction -not merely another soulless chain offering. It's just off the main road between Dalry and Kilwinning, North Ayrshire. Do yourself a favour and visit!Posted on Google![]()

Friendly, fascinating wee place A lovely wee place - we arrived just after midday so had a very tasty lunch in the cafe at the entrance, which is also where you buy your tickets for the museum. After the lunch, we paid the bill and bought the museum entry and spent a long time looking at the exhibits on every floor. All very nicely laid out to walk you through everything. Plenty of exhibits showing just how hard and basic life was in the area. Also met Rob, the friendly owner, who was happy to stand and chat and tell us how he came to own it from his family, and the work it's taken in the last 40 years to renovate and open as the museum it is now. We left after that but not before buying up a couple of scones from the cafe to have at home later - and they also were delicious. This place is a real labour of love and enthusiasm, and it shows. Well worth a visit.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

A top experience, a must do! Can’t find enough superlatives to describe the wonderful experience we had on our visit on Friday. Fabulous exhibits, history and much more besides. The stories of the curator brought the place alive. The lovely ladies in the kitchen preparing and serving great home made food and baking. Robbie’s book. All excellent and an important Scottish collection which must make the people involved really proud. Left with a spring in my step after a great few hours.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

Wonderful collection, friendly staff My mum and I came here yesterday to see the Ayrshire Whitework exhibition. What a wonderful trip! Lovely homemade soup, and an excellent slab of cake afterwards. Really interesting collections (costume and rural life) and had a lovely chat with Robert as well. Will definitely be back for a closer look at the collections, more cake (!), and hopefully a wee walk too.Posted on Tripadvisor![]()

More than interesting. Overwhelming.Charming. Great food at a good price I like industrial archaeology and this was a treat although past its former glory still charming. Tom Ferguson whose family owned the mill gave an excellent tour around explaining the beautiful oriental costumes aquifer over the years.Load more
